We often talk with our furry friends to communicate and express our feelings and sometimes they actually understand our messages but unfortunately, we cannot understand their messages when they bark and tell. But now pet owners and animal lovers can rejoice as per reports an artificial intelligence is in the making that will aid us to communicate with them effectively. Yes, in decade’s time some American scientists may come up with a ‘Pet translator’. Currently, Dr Con Slobodchikoff, who is a professor at Northern Arizona University is working on a similar instrument.
He has spent more than three decades studying and researching on the patterns of communication of prairie dogs. Dr Con and his colleagues have also developed an algorithm that can convert dogs’ vocalizations into the English language. This is not all they also started a company known as Zoolingua in order to learn more about the technology that could help humans communicate with animals. Right now Dr Con is focusing on dogs as his aim is to come up AI device that can translate dog’s barks into English words or sentences.

They are learning about types of barks and body movements with help of videos. Once the data is collected in form video then the same can be added as an algorithm.”This kind of technology could help humans better understand dogs and their behavior. You could use that information and instead of backing the dog into a corner, give the dog more space,” he told NBC News.
As per the researchers, the dogs make high pitch calls when they face any incoming threats. They also describe specifics like predator’s size and coat color and warn others. They also concluded that the calls differ as per size and type of predator. “I thought, if we can do this with prairie dogs, we can certainly do it with dogs and cats,” Slobodchikoff said. Technology has grown quite significantly and devices like Google Home AI and fitness trackers are proof that more promising AI devices will surely come up in near future. What are your views?
