Platform Versions, Android 2.3 On The Rise
Source: Nate Rios

Google has broken down the numbers yet again and provided an in-depth look at which version of Android is the most commonly used version. As with previous reports, it looks like Android 2.2 Froyo is still the leading version of the operating system but it’s extremely encouraging to see Android 2.3 Gingerbread making some serious headway on 2.2.

As promised at Google I/O earlier this year, Google, along with their handset partners, said they would be guaranteeing to upgrade all of their devices to the most current version of Android in a timely fashion going forward. Not only have Google and its Android Partners made good on that offer, they have drastically reduced the level of fragmentation that misguided naysayers love to tout! No longer can negative nellies throw “fragmentation” in our faces as they attempt to topple us from our Android-induced tower of happiness.

The full report is fascinating if you’re interested in that sort of thing and can be found at the link below.
