Lifelike sex robots 'with their own MINDS to get human rights'

Cyborg developers have been trying to simulate the human mind for decades.

Now a top sex robot pioneer says witty androids will be wired through an artificial intelligence app that will act as a simulation of the human mind.

Fellas are set to meet the first sex robot with a programmable personality on April 15.

The bots are set to be programmed in a similar way to humanoid robot Ava in hit 2015 film Ex Machina who is able to "think" through billions of online searches as an equivalent to Google.

Academics discussed the potential of robotic thought process based on fictional cyborg Ava's experiences.

Robotics boffin Murray Shanahan, of Imperial College London, said the idea human consciousness comes from social interaction is "more attractive".

Speaking live on BBC Radio 4's Rise of the Robots, he said: "There are big questions about the evolution of human consciousness.

"I think some of the more attractive ideas are to do with social interaction. That the ability to perceive somebody else's mind will be of great advantage.

"Ava's intelligence is not human. It is derived from the internet – the way it is described in the film. She looks at search algorithms equivalent to google."

In many ways Ava's behaviour is "human-like" but it is also "completely alien", the science boffin added.

Respected BBC Radio 4 host Adam Rutherford described Ava as having a "sophisticated" mind.

He said: "Billions of online searches that give Ava in Ex Machina her sophisticated mind.

"A simulacrum of our own way of thinking.

"In us though, it's the connection between billions of neurones that give us ours.

"A mind embodied in a brain, embodied in a body."

Brussels bureaucrats began discussing whether intelligent A.I. should be given human rights last month.

The report stated: "Robots would be equipped with certain rights and responsibilities and held responsible for any damages caused."

It added cyborgs could "surpass human intelligence within a few decades".
