Killer robot fears as engineer admits artificial intelligence will be ‘UNCONTROL

Last month, a group of scientists presented a chilling film demonstrating the dangers of autonomous lethal machines to policymakers at the UN.

The short video depicted disturbing footage of a not-too-distant future in which murderous drones blow up countless people in a horrifying killing spree.

It led to calls to ban the machines, with billionaire tech genius Elon Musk even predicting AI could spell doom for humanity.

Now Ray Kurzweil, head of engineering at tech giants Google, whose subsidiary company Deep Mind are at the forefront of AI research, admitted humans will be powerless to artificial intelligence.

“Intelligence is inherently uncontrollable,” the 69-year-old explained.

“If there’s some entity that is more powerful than you and I and it is out for our destruction, the best strategy is not to get into that situation in the first place.

“Failing that, the next best strategy would be to get some other AI that is even more intelligent than the one that is out there on your side.

“My strategy, which is not foolproof, is to practise the kind of ethics and morality and values we would like to see in our own human society.

“It is not some invasion from Mars of intelligent machines, it is emerging from our civilisation today. It’s going to be an enhancement of who we are.

“So by practising the kind of values we cherish in our world today, that is the best strategy to have a world in the future that embodies those values.”

It comes after he predicted human-level artificial intelligence would be a reality in just three years – and it could cost as little as $1000 (£747) to produce.
