The FBI Is Seeking a Few Good Cyber Special Agents
Source: FBI

Want a shot at helping to crack the next Sony-like hack? The FBI has a job for you ― if you've got the right creds. The bureau, the federal government's lead investigative agency in the massive Sony data breach, is looking to hire more people in 2015 with technical backgrounds ― particularly cyber expertise. "Cyber permeates every aspect of what we do, whether it's counterterrorism, criminal investigations, or traditional cyber attacks, as we've seen in the recent past," Robert Anderson, Jr., executive assistant director for the bureau's Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch, said this week in a news release. "That's why these type of people are so important to get into the pipeline and come into our organization."

In addition to the standard age (23-36), fitness and background check requirements, cyber agent candidates must also have "a wealth of experience in computers and technology." That encompasses everything from computer programming to what the FBI describes as "ethical hacking." Applications are being accepted through Jan. 20. New hires can expect a starting salary in the range of $59,000-$76,500.
