Tim Cook: Everyone has ?°right to privacy and security?±

Addressing the White House’s Summit on Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection held at Stanford University, Apple CEO Tim Cook made some strong pro-privacy statements, saying that the government and other companies should to work collectively to ensure the protection of consumers.
In his strong defense of consumers, Cook said that “privacy and security” are the rights of all customers.
Asserting that “When it comes to the rights of customers and the rights of citizens, it's important to realize we're all talking about the same people,” Cook said that government and the companies should offer customers the best-possible protections “by harnessing the technology at our disposal and working together.”
Cook said that the world we live in does not give equal treatment to all people and discriminates them on the basis of personal information. He also drew attention to the fact that “history has shown us that sacrificing a right to privacy can have dire consequences.”
Calling for joint efforts from the government and companies to ensure that the customers’ right of privacy’ is protected, Cook said that there are technological tools available to help those in “positions of responsibility” to collectively work towards consumer protection.
