Incoming class

The National Cyber Security Hall of Fame has announced its recent class of inductees. In noting them we also highlight some of the past winners. The hall of fame recognizes the history and contributions of pioneers, innovators and educators who influenced the industry. The inductees are chosen by a board of advisers. Pictured from left to right are: Susan Landau, Steven Lipner, Cynthia Irvine, Ron Ross, and Jerry Saltzer is in front.

This year’s inductees are Steven Lipner, Partner Director of Software Security in Trustworthy Computing Security at Microsoft and serves as a board member and chair of SAFECode. Susan Landau is a Professor of Cybersecurity Policy in the Department of Social Science and Policy Studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Landau has been a senior staff Privacy Analyst at Google, a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems. Jerry Saltzer has played an influential role as a faculty member of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Cynthia E. Irvine is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School. Her research has focused on developmental security as applied to the creation of trustworthy systems, and more recently, on cyber operations. Ron Ross is considered the "Father" of the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) security standards and recognized as one of the world's leading experts on cyber security.
