Now This is What the iWatch Should Look Like Source: Evan Dashevsky
Before Apple's big reveal, check out seven design concepts we hope Apple considered.
Apple hasn't made anything truly revolutionary since halfway through Obama's first term. Sure, there have been some cool incremental steps forward, but it's been four years since Apple released a segment-defining gadget that makes us all believe the future is now.
Get off yer rumps, Cupertino! This innovation void has left the public in desperate need for some important new gadget to come along and wash all the Kickstarter-funded nonsense off the map. This thirst has led to feverish speculation about super-secret Apple wrist-worn device: the so-called "iWatch."
There have been months―years, really―of whispers and rumors about the device (some of which may have been purposefully drummed-up by Apple itself, sensing a restlessness among the public and its investors). In response to this speculation, other big tech firms have released a steady stream of mostly yawn-inducing smartwatches of their own.
But, in order to fill the Apple-shaped gap in our lives, several independent designers have put forward their ideas of what an Apple-worthy iWatch might look like. Utilizing a mixed bag of visual cues from all across the Jony Ive era, creative types from around the world have done their best to approximate what might be going on behind closed Cupertino doors. Hit the slideshow for some of our favorite iWatch concepts, and be sure to check back at 1 p.m. ET for our live blog to see what Apple really has up its sleeve.
