Adblock Says it Can Stop Facebook's New Atlas Ads Source: Lauren Berry
Scared of being followed around by Facebook's Atlas ad network? Adblock says it can stop it. "If you don’t want Facebook and other corporate behemoths tracking your every movement on the Internet and on all of your devices in order to hit you with unwanted ads, install Adblock Plus on every browser and every device you own," the company wrote Wednesday in a blog post. Facebook already used data from its users to serve up targeted ads on its own site. But earlier this week it unveiled Atlas, its competitor to Google's own massive ad network. Atlas will allow for ads bought on Facebook to show up in other places, using data gathered from Facebook, which bought the ad platform last year from Microsoft. Adblock, a free program, said that it's trying to "break the ad circle that Facebook-Atlas is trying to connect around you."
