Google-owned home automator Nest has a press conference scheduled for next week, but ― somewhat ironically for a company that bought security camera firm Dropcam ― images that appear to show a new piece of hardware have already leaked. Droid Life has obtained pictures of a home security camera called the Nest Cam, a device that looks like a slimmer, sleeker version of the Dropcam Pro.

An FCC filing spotted last week suggested that Nest was indeed readying a Bluetooth-enabled camera for its press event on June 17th. According to Droid Life, the new Nest Cam has been in testing for months, with features such as 1080p video streaming and a simpler setup process being slowly introduced to rebranded Dropcam Pros. Full details will have to wait until next week, but the FCC filing indicates that the Nest Cam is markedly similar to the existing Dropcam Pro under the hood, shipping with Bluetooth LE 4.0 capability and a wall mount.

Droid Life says that the Nest Cam will also bring with it an overhaul of the Nest app. A new interface will allow users to control Nest products using the redesigned software, check on their status, and even watch feeds from Nest Cams or older Dropcams live. If Droid Life's outline is accurate, Nest Cam would be the first security camera to be sold by the company since it acquired Dropcam in June 2014 ― but given Nest's intention to create a connected home, may not be the only piece of hardware on show next week.
