Google+ mobile app tops iPhone download charts Source: ConsumerReports
Google's social media experiment, Google+, isn't just for computers and Android-powered smart phones anymore. Yesterday, the mobile app version of Google+ for iPhones was approved by Apple. And already it has become one of the most downloaded―and updated―free apps on Apple's iTunes.
As reported by various websites, the initial version that appeared on iTunes was an unintentional release of a test version, prompting an immediate update. Since then, the mobile app has become the top free app within 24 hours of its launch on iTunes―even though The Google+ service itself is still in testing mode and accessible by invitation-only.
According to early reviews, the mobile version of Google+ will work only on iPhones and not other iOS devices, such as the iPod Touch or iPads. And like the app version for Android smart phones, the iPhone version of Google+ doesn't yet have the full capabilities of the desktop experience. For example, it isn't possible to conduct video chats with friends in a Google+ Circle using the smart phone apps.
Our experts are getting their own hands on both Google+ and its mobile apps. We'll report more about the search engine's social networking site soon.
In the meantime, if you're a Google+ member and have tried out the mobile apps, let us know what you think.
