Free cell phone apps can help you save money Source: STACY BALLINGER

Money saving coupons are found in your Sunday paper and on your smart phone. Savvy shoppers use their smart phones to save at restaurants, retail stores and services. A variety of free apps are available for smart phones. Here are my top six most used money-saving apps.
GeoQpons
This app is loaded with retail and restaurant coupons. There are in-store coupons and offers from stores such as Ann Taylor, Carter’s, Children’s Place, Gap, Hobby Lobby and more. A great feature is you can share the coupons and deals with friends via email, Facebook, or Twitter. To use a coupon, just show the cashier the image of the coupon on your phone. The cashier can enter the coupon code or verify the coupon to apply the discount. It has been my experience on a few occasions that a store will not accept a mobile coupon, but an actual paper copy of the coupon. However, more and more stores are accepting mobile coupons. GeoQpons is available as a free app on iPhone/iPad, Blackberry, and Android.
Coupon Sherpa
This app is similar to GeoQpons. This app is easy to use allowing you to search by store name or by category such as clothing or electronics. Like GeoQpons, this app allows you to email the coupon and then print the coupon off to use in store. This free app is available for the iPhone.
Amazon Mobile
I have been in this predicament many times: while in a store wondering how much something cost if I bought it online versus in-store. This is where Amazon Mobile comes to the rescue. Amazon Mobile is great for comparing prices from Amazon and other merchants to the retail store you are shopping. You can also read customer reviews before you make a purchase. Doing a little research from the palm of your hand could save you hundreds of dollars a year. This app is free and available for the iPhone, blackberry, and Android.
AFullCup Grocery Coupon Forum
AFullCup is an online community for couponers. This forum will keep you in the know of the hot deals available in the grocery store and drug stores. If you love to talk coupons, AFullCup is the place to go. There are forums for frugal living, healthy eating, rebates, going green, and more. It is a free app available on iPhone/iPad and Android.
Sale Price
This is a great app to help calculate a sale price when calculating percentage discounts with another percentage off discount (for example store percentage-off discount with a coupon percentage-off discount). You type in the original price and use the sliders to select sales discounts and additional discounts. It will calculate the final price with sales tax included. This app is easy to use making it a great shopping tool. It is available for the iPhone for free.
GasBuddy
We all want to save at the pump and GasBuddy makes it easy. This app gives you a list of the cheapest gas in your immediate area. The prices on GasBuddy are reported by a community on users working together to update gas prices. If you report a gas price, you will earn points toward prize give-away entries. However, you are not required to report the gas prices to benefit from this app. This app is available for iPhone, Android, Windows, and BlackBerry for free.
