Microsoft Selects SEVEN Networks to Develop Android Client f

SEVEN(R) Networks, a provider of innovative mobile solutions that deliver a Real Life, Real Time experience, announced that it has been contracted by Microsoft to develop an Android client for its Hotmail email service. Microsoft selected SEVEN based on the two companies' long-term partnership and SEVEN's expertise in delivering data efficient mobile applications.
The development marks the first Microsoft-authorized Android app for Hotmail and will be jointly distributed by Microsoft and SEVEN. The app delivers push-enabled access to the user inbox, contact list and calendars. The free app is now available for download on the Android Market.
With 360 million active users, Hotmail is the largest webmail provider in the world. Microsoft has reengineered Hotmail and the availability of its Android app reflects a commitment to provide a great Hotmail experience to users on whichever smartphones they use. Hotmail provides advanced messaging capabilities including email, chat, video, integration with Windows 7 taskbar and Office Web apps, smartphone capabilities and more.

Last year, SEVEN joined the Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail for Mobile Services Reseller Program, which allowed the company to directly resell Hotmail services. Prior to that agreement, SEVEN was the first mobile messaging vendor to deploy a mobile email client using the new MSP 3.0 protocol developed by Microsoft. As part of this long-term relationship with Microsoft, SEVEN has successfully certified hundreds of devices from a variety of manufacturers with Hotmail, including HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and more.
